MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - If you're an artisan or just a fan of arts and crafts and want to see a huge display, there's a massive Craftsmen's Classic happening at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center.

Hundreds of artists, craftspeople and vendors are setting up for the crowds that will start rolling in Saturday. Whether you've been before or not, if you come out and browse the booths you'll find things that are only available here.

With over 200 exhibits and many first time vendors, the Craftsmen's Classic is in full swing at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center.

Hundreds of artisans from several states will feature their original designs and creations such as pottery, jewelry, glass, fine art, photography and furniture.

Organizers said this event gives shoppers a unique experience that other shopping places don't. And while it’s their 34th year in Myrtle Beach, they said it feels like home.

"This is actually voted the best summer show of its kind in South Carolina. So that's a pretty good award and we're proud of it, and this is the best place that you can find these people from all across the country - that's a long haul to get here," said Carly Gilmore.

Aside from benefiting locals who sell their craft or volunteer to raise money, the show continues to attract a wide variety of craft seekers.

Vendors who joined the event 20 years ago and those who said it's their first time feel making relationships with the people here makes it even more desirable to come back year after year. By having shows like this, craftsmen see that people are still willing to pay for things they know are made by hand. When people are so receptive, it keeps artists hitting the roads to follow events like this one.

“These artists and craftsmen who put so much time and effort into their work, they're incredibly talented. And rather than just putting their products on a shelf in a store you get to come and interact with them and talk with them and it's a unique experience,” Gilmore said.

The Craftsmen’s Classic will be held at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets are eight dollars for adults and one dollar for kids ages six to 12.
