HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – A woman was transported to the hospital early Thursday morning following a shooting at the Tanger Outlets.

The shooting happened at the shopping center off of Highway 17, Sgt. Hall with Horry County Police confirmed.

According to a police report, the incident happened just after midnight in the 10000 block of Kings Road. Officers arrived to find a victim, who matched dispatch's description, sitting in her car with all the doors shut. Officers notified EMS after opening a car door and seeing she had suffered a gunshot wound.

A group, including the victim's daughter, leaving a nearby store approached the car. After asking the group to stay back, an officer applied pressure to the victim's wound while asking about the shooting.

The victim said she was waiting for her daughter to get out of work when two subjects approached the car and said, "This is a stick-up." She said the two drove off toward Kings Road in a mid-size white car.

When WMBF News arrived at the outlets at about 1:30 a.m. Thursday, both Horry County Police and Horry County Fire Rescue were still at the scene.

The female victim was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, said Hall.

This shooting is still under investigation by Horry County Police.
