SOUTH CAROLINA (WMBF) - More than a year after the Confederate flag was removed from the grounds of the South Carolina Statehouse, a group is looking for areas to erect the battle flag across the state.

The South Carolina Secessionist Party took to Facebook to start their efforts to rent land on which the flag can be displayed.

"In a response to the attack on our ancestors in July 2015, we are preparing to raise their flag along the interstates, streets and roads, as well as in and around towns and cities of South Carolina," stated a Facebook post from the group.

The South Carolina Secessionist Party said on the social media platform they have received at least 12 offers of land so far to raise the flags.

Their goal is to raise $10,000. As of 9 p.m., Wednesday, $520 had been acquired via the party's Fundly.com page.

The group's efforts come more than a year after the Confederate flag was permanently removed from its prominent location in front of South Carolina's seat of government.

Efforts to have the flag removed were ignited following the shooting deaths of nine parishioners at the Emanuel AME Church in Charleston.
