GEORGETOWN COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – The northbound and southbound lanes of U.S. 17 at the bridge in Georgetown are reopened as of 5:15 p.m., Tuesday after being closed for almost an hour because of a four-vehicle crash, according to South Carolina Highway Patrol Cpl. Sonny Collins.

Collins said one person, Frank Cunnane, was charged with driving under the influence in connection with the collision. The suspect was booked into the Georgetown County Detention Center.

The SCHP's website listed a traffic collision with injuries that occurred at approximately 2:31 p.m., Tuesday in Georgetown in the northbound lane of U.S. 17 at the First Bridge.

Jackie Broach, public information officer for Georgetown County, said two people were taken to area hospitals for treatment of injuries following the collision. Those injuries did not appear to be severe.
