Police ask for public’s help in solving murder of 2 men found in Socastee parking lot

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – According to a Facebook post by the Horry County Police Department, detectives have exhausted all leads in the case of two men found murdered in a parking lot on Socastee Boulevard on July 11, and are asking for the public’s help in solving the case.

According to Horry County Deputy Coroner Darris Fowler, the victims were Rafael Aguilar, 31, and Carmelo Marmolejo-Calixto, 33. They were both from Myrtle Beach. Police said the men were murdered at about 4:30 a.m. in the parking lot of El Yamerito.

Fowler said the men died from gunshot wounds to vital organs. Horry County police are investigating the incident as a double homicide.

A call came in to Horry County Fire Rescue at about 7 a.m., Monday about an injured man lying beside a van. Fire rescue came, found the man was dead and called police, according to Lt. Raul Denis with the Horry County Police Department. A second deceased man was found inside the van, he added.
