MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – Myrtle Beach police arrested a man who was allegedly found carrying a stolen gun inside Coastal Grand Mall.

According to information on the Myrtle Beach Police Department’s website, Mikle Anthony Butler, 28, was charged Thursday with unlawful carrying of a pistol, weapon law violation and receiving stolen goods of $2,000 or less.

An MBPD incident report stated officers were called to the mall Wednesday for the weapon law violation.

They met with a witness, who said the suspect was walking through the mall with a firearm in his waist band, according to the report.

One of the officers indicated he knew the suspect to be a known gang member, the report stated. He was questioned about the weapon and then allegedly tried to flee.

Officers detained him, at which time a semi-automatic firearm was reportedly found in his pocket, according to the incident report.

A check of the weapon reportedly revealed that it had been stolen.
