CONWAY, SC (WMBF) – A Citizen Forum hosted by the Conway Branch of the NAACP, the Myrtle Beach NAACP and Conway Police Chief Reginald Gosnell will be held on July 25 at the Conway Recreation Center.

The forum is being held in reaction to violence against public safety officers in Dallas and Baton Rouge, and is open to all concerned citizens in Horry County, “regardless of creed, color, origin or religion,” according to a news release from the local NAACP. Organizers hope to “collectively talk to promote and create a movement based on shared responsibility and mutual accountability.”

The event is being held at 5:30 p.m. at the Conway Recreation Center at 1515 Mill Pond Drive in Conway.

“Public Safety is everybody’s business and has always been a civic duty with police playing a unique role collectively with the community,” the release states.

Conway Police spokeswoman Selena Small confirmed that the department will be in attendance.
