Coastal Carolina University congratulates alumnus Michael Kelly on Emmy nomination

CONWAY, SC (WMBF) – Coastal Carolina University alumnus Michael Kelly received his second nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama in Netflix hit show “House of Cards” on July 14, according to CCU’s press release.

He graduated from Coastal Carolina University 1992 as the first student to receive a bachelor's degree in performing arts.

The release states that Kelly later earned roles in "The Changeling" (2008), "Now You See Me" (2013), and most recently "Everest" (2015) and "Secret in Their Eyes" (2015). In total, Kelly has appeared in 27 movies and 21 TV shows and series, including "The Sopranos," "The Good Wife" and "Law and Order.

The actor played the role of Doug Stamper in "House of Cards" in 2013.

The fifth season of "House of Cards" will premiere on Netflix on Friday, Feb. 24, 2017.
