FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) - Traffic woes in the Pee Dee are forcing a new ordinance that involves a fine.
As of Monday, most of the parking spaces in downtown Florence have a two-hour parking window.
If motorists are parked for longer, they will be ticketed.
"There have been issues to parking since downtown has developed. There are merchants down there that would like to see parking restrictions enforced," Florence Mayor Stephen Wukela said.
Wukela added some shop and restaurant owners want to see those restrictions so that parking sports aren't being taken up for hours.
Parking has been a hamper for the downtown area since early in its development.
A multi-level parking structure is nearing completion that will help with some of the congestion.
