ROBESON COUNTY, NC (WMBF) – Strong storms that moved through Robeson County Monday afternoon led to downed trees and power lines, and a barn fire that resulted from a lightning strike.

Robeson County Emergency Management Director Stephanie Chavis said the barn was off Tobacco Road in the Fairmont area. The structure was a total loss and no injuries were reported.

According to information from the National Weather Service in Wilmington, N.C., multiple trees were down in the towns of Fairmont and Maxton.

A tree also came down on a house at 110 Florence Ct., in Lumberton, according to the NWS.

Lumberton Fire Battalion Chief Brian Nelson said the home suffered moderate damage after a limb fell through the roof. A family of five was displaced.

Chavis said there were also reports of downed power lines within the county.
