FLORENCE COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – Heavy rains and winds caused damage for some in the Pee Dee.

“The wind was here and it was up. I could hear trees cracking and falling,” said farmer Terry Marlowe.

Marlowe’s farm is right off National Cemetery Road. After Thursday’s storms, much of his property was left a mess.

“The carport started lifting up and down. It started raining so hard you couldn’t see,” Marlowe said.

He added it wasn’t the rain that left the majority of the damage; it was the wind.

“I got out and got to walking around and assessing the damage, as you can see big trees down,” Marlowe said.

However, there was a positive that came out of the storms.

“The produce in the field was blew over. It already back upright and looking better than what it had because is a lot of it was burning up for these real hot days,” Marlowe said.
