HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – A one-vehicle crash Thursday evening on U.S. 501 near White Deer Ridge resulted in the deaths of two people.

According to Lance Cpl. Sonny Collins with the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the collision happened around 6 p.m., when a 2004 Ford Econo van ran off the right side of the road and struck a tree.

The driver and a front-seat passenger were both killed as a result of the crash, Collins said.

He added the driver was wearing a seatbelt, while the passenger was not.

Seven other people inside the van were taken to a local medical facility, according to Collins.

The victims’ identities were not immediately available and the crash remains under investigation by the SCHP.
