NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – A 17-year-old from Myrtle Beach was arrested Tuesday for voyeurism after a digital camera controlled by a smartphone was found in the restroom of a North Myrtle Beach laundry warehouse, according to a police report.

Police responded to the realty office for the warehouse after the company received a complaint from an employee on June 28 about a camera in the restroom of the facility pointed at the toilet, the report states. Upon inspecting the camera, it was found to have taken pictures of a woman using the restroom. An employee found that the camera could be accessed remotely with a smartphone app.

Security camera video was reviewed, and at the time one of the photos was taken, 17-year-old Mason Ford, a Myrtle Beach resident who works for the realty company, and another teen can be seen walking closer to the restroom area and looking at a cell phone, according to the report.

Ford surrendered himself at the North Myrtle Beach Department of Public Safety jail on Tuesday on an outstanding warrant for voyeurism. He was booked into the J. Reuben Long Detention Center Tuesday and released the same day on a $5,000 bond, according to jail records.
