FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) – A woman died at a home on Wildwood Drive in Florence County following a house fire, the county coroner confirms.

The coroner confirms it was 92-year-old Sarah Jordan Watts who died.

“Well she’s been my neighbor forever it seems like. She had been sick and she had just gotten back home,” Margaret Outlaw, who neighbored Watts’ said.

Dispatch reported the initial call came in around 12:04 a.m.

It was around that time Outlaw said she got a call alerting her to what was happening next door.

“My neighbor, on the other side, called me. I was wondering why I was getting a call at 12 o’clock at night. She was calling to tell me this house had been reported on fire,” Outlaw said.

Outlaw said the fire was so intense the shutter on her house facing toward the blazing structure melted.

“It was blazing. It was really bad. It looked like it would die down some, but then it would flare back up. It looked terrible. That car right there was a nice looking car,” Outlaw said.

While fire investigators work to figure out exactly was caused the blaze Outlaws and others say they are deeply sadden by the loss of a friend.

“She was just a good neighbor, that’s all I can tell you,” Outlaw said.

The call for the house fire came in at around 12:04 a.m. Tuesday, according to emergency dispatch.
