Multiple ocean rescues reported in Myrtle Beach, Surfside Beach

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – There have been eight ocean rescues so far in Myrtle Beach, and multiple rescues in Surfside Beach this Fourth of July, according to reports from the National Weather Service.

Local ocean rescue reported to NWS that in addition to the eight rescue in Myrtle Beach, there were “multiple” rescues in Surfside Beach Monday due to rip currents.

Surfside Beach Fire Rescue says they have responded to zero ocean rescues on Monday. Beach Services Limited provides lifeguard services to Surfside Beach and Garden City beaches.

WMBF News has reached out to officials in Myrtle Beach, Surfside Beach and Beach Services officials for more details.

Over the weekend, 15 ocean rescues were reported to the NWS due to the rough surf.
