CONEY ISLAND, NY (WMBF) – Well hot dog! After the CCU baseball team's College World Series win last week, a CCU grad took his talents to the national stage and downed a whopping 16 hot dogs at the Nathan's Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest, according to the company's tweets.

Steven Schuster, a 2007 Coastal Carolina University graduate, competed against the most famous eaters in the world this Fourth of July at the Nathan’s Famous 2016 International Hot Dog Eating Contest in Coney Island, New York, and came in 14th place after stars like Joey Chestnut, who reclaimed the title and set a new record with 70 hot dogs eaten in 10 minutes.

Schuster qualified for the renowned eating competition at a qualifying event in Charlotte, NC on May 28. There, he ate 21.5 hot dogs in 10 minutes.

This year marks the 100th Anniversary of the annual American tradition, and the Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest Main event was held at noon.
