ROBESON COUNTY, NC (WMBF) - The Robeson County Sheriff's Office gave the all clear to reopen a part of I-95 this morning after investigating a suspicious object seen under an abandoned car on the side of the highway.
Sheriff Kenneth Sealy said a call came in around 10:30 a.m. from a driver near mile marker one.
From there, the southbound lanes of I-95 were closed for about an hour as a bomb squad checked out the vehicle and object underneath.
Sealy said the object turned out to be a gas can, but he said he wanted to take all precautions to make sure everyone was safe.
The car turned out to be from South Carolina but had no current tags on it.
The Sheriff's Office is now trying to figure out who the car belongs to.
