NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – A man died following an accident that happened Thursday afternoon at Aloha Watersports, according to information from North Myrtle Beach spokesperson Pat Dowling.

Horry County Coroner Robert Edge said the victim was Danny Winters, 56, from Winston-Salem, N.C. An autopsy was performed on Friday, which revealed it was a cardiac death.

At 2:15 p.m., a rider fell off of a banana boat being operated in the 2200 block of North Ocean Boulevard and wound up face-down in the water, Dowling said.

He added the victim was brought to shore and lifeguards performed CPR on him and used a defibrillator.

The man was eventually taken to the hospital, where he passed away, according to Dowling.

Lifeguards and rescue personnel said it appeared the man suffered a heart attack, Dowling said.
