HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – Evening rainfall helped reduce a wildland fire that started burning in the forest off International Drive north of Wheatfield Drive around 12:30 a.m. Friday morning.

According to the South Carolina Forestry Commission, the significant rain fell on the wildfire, but it did not extinguish the fire.

The lightening forced South Carolina Forestry Commission personnel off the fire line, but fire crews will return Saturday to assess the fire.

Stay tuned for updated information as it becomes available.
