MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - A man was charged for pointing and presenting a firearm Saturday following an officer-involved shooting in June.
According to Lieutenant Denis with Horry County Police, James Badgett was charged for pointing and presenting a firearm in the incident. Bond was denied for the charge.
Horry County Police confirmed there was an officer-involved shooting at the Myrtle Beach State Park at approximately 1:00 p.m. June 24.
An HCPD Officer was dispatched to the Myrtle Beach State Park for a suspicious vehicle. Once the officer arrived, Badgett in the vehicle was confronted and questioned, according to information from Lt. Raul Denis.
During this encounter, the officer discharged his weapon. Badgett was injured and transported to a local hospital.
The involved officer is okay, confirmed Lt. Raul Denis with HCPD.
Multiple HCPD vehicles and a fire truck were on scene at the park at about 2:12 p.m.
An official on scene said that the State Law Enforcement Division would be taking over the investigation, because the shooting involved an officer.
SLED is still investigating and are not releasing further details.
