CONWAY, SC (WMBF) – Vendors, businesses and locals are getting ready for the annual Riverfest on the Riverwalk in Conway this Saturday.

Riverfest has been in Conway for more than 30 years, and businesses downtown say they know most of the thousands of people that come every year head down to the Riverwalk, where they'll spend most of their money.

Riverfest has continued to grow, businesses say it gets bigger every single year. And events like it are crucial because they bring in new customers and exposure.

"I've had people come in for them and see what I do, and say 'I've got something that needs to be framed,' oh they'll be back to get it done," explained Jack Terry, owner of Terry’s Custom Framing downtown.

One Conway local explained her experience growing up in the city. As a child, she said, for her the games were the most fun. As a teen, she said you had to go to the fireworks show at night. Now as a downtown business owner, she said she continues to enjoy Riverfest, because new people in town just for the day may discover her shop.

Riverfest has become a day when the community works together to foster a successful event, while city leaders continue to try to drive more business to their area.

"I don't know that there's any trouble that we've ever had,” Terry added of the event. “It's always, you know, everybody in town participates in it. It's a big event, people get together, people that you haven't seen since the last one."

Riverfest includes a kidzone, live entertainment, a beer garden, something for everyone. It kicks off at 11:00 a.m. Saturday morning and runs through 10:00 p.m. at night.
