Two men arrested for taking a vehicle from a local body shop

SCOTLAND, NC (WMBF) – Investigators with the Scotland County Sheriff’s Office arrested two men for a larceny that was reported to the sheriff’s office on June 13.

William Kirk Wallace, 32, of Bennettsville and Fredrick Eugene Williams, 21, of Wallace took a vehicle from a local body shop during the night, according to SCSO Facebook post.

The vehicle was later recovered in Chesterfield County on June 15 and returned to the body shop owner.

Wallace and Williams were arrested with assistance by the Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office Investigators on Friday June 17. The men were charged with 1 count of breaking or entering a motor vehicle, 1 count of larceny of a motor vehicle and 1 count of misdemeanor larceny, the post states.

They both waived extradition and both suspects were picked up at the Marlboro County Detention Center on Monday June 20, 2016 and transported to the Scotland County Detention Center. Both suspects were given a $25,000.00 secured bond and placed in the Scotland County Detention Center, according to the post.

     One person was killed in a motorcycle accident in Lake City Saturday night, according to Coroner Keith von Lutcken. The accident happened around 7:40 pm on South Morris Street and Dogwood Lane. The victim, identified as Victor McKenzie of Lake City, was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. The South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Florence County Coroner’s Office is still investigating this incident.

     A female was hit by a car on Highway 544 Saturday night, according to Lt. Selena Small with the Conway Police Department. Small said the female was hit around 10:45 pm near the 700 block of Highway 544. The victim was taken to the hospital and was admitted for her injuries.
