FLORENCE COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – Deputies with the Florence County Sheriff's Office found candies infused with THC, the primary psychoactive ingredient of marijuana, during a traffic stop on Interstate 95, according to a news release from the FCSO.
The FCSO's Criminal Investigations Enforcement Unit found a quantity of hydroponically-grown marijuana along with the THC-infused candies during the stop.
"These THC infused products are manufactured to resemble candies available for purchase in retail stores and are virtually indistinguishable from the brand named candies without a chemical analysis," the release states.
The candies were produced in Colorado, where marijuana is legal, but it is not legal to possess or transport them outside of Colorado, according to deputies.
The candies' labels stated that they contain about 100 mg of THC, according to the release.
"Parents are cautioned that these products are possibly available for purchase or distribution outside Colorado, although they are illegal outside that state," the release states.
Anyone who encounters these products is asked to call the FCSO at 843-665-2121, etc. 330.
