DARLINGTON COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - Students attending the Darlington Summer Academic Program were able to get up close and personal with a military helicopter on Wednesday.

The helicopter was flown in by the Celebrate Freedom Foundation.

Ryan Milling, DSAP director, said the program gave the students, between fourth and sixth grade, the chance to learn about helicopters, the tools used in the vehicles and the science and math behind them.

The DSAP program is a month-long initiative that is based at Mayo High School for Math, Science and Technology.

It provides experiences in science, technology, robotics, problem-solving and high-order thinking skills, according to a press release from the Darlington County School District.
