FLORENCE COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – Gallons of orange juice spilled onto the highway and a trailer was destroyed after it caught fire on Interstate 95 between Sardis and Timmonsville Wednesday morning.

The Prime Incorporated 18-wheeler carrying the OJ caught fire at about 10:40 a.m. on I-95 near exit 150, closing two lanes for about 45 minutes, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Sardis-Timmonsville Fire Department.

It appears that the trailer’s brakes started the fire near the rear of the trailer, according to volunteer firefighter Earl Copeland. The driver was able to unhook and pull away, and no injuries were reported.

It took about 20 minutes to get the fire under control, Copeland said.
