MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – The Myrtle Beach SkyWheel was lit up with rainbow colors Sunday night to pay respect to those who lost their lives at the Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando.

“Tonight we light our wheel in the colors of the rainbow to pay our respects for those who lost their lives in today's senseless act of violence in Orlando. Our thoughts and prayers are with all the victims and their families," states a post on the SkyWheel's Facebook page.

On April 21, the SkyWheel was lit with purple lights to pay tribute to legendary pop star Prince, and on June 2, the wheel was orange as a symbolic gesture to bring attention to gun violence in the United States.

The 187-foot tall SkyWheel has been a fixture on the Myrtle Beach Oceanfront Boardwalk since it opened on May 20, 2011, when it was named the second-tallest extant Ferris wheel in North America.
