FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) – A motorcycle operator is dead following a two-vehicle crash Friday night in Florence.
According to Lance Cpl. Sonny Collins with the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the collision happened at 7:15 p.m., on Alligator Road in Florence.
A 2001 Lexus was heading west on Alligator Road when the driver went to make a left turn and drove into the path of a 2005 Harley Davidson motorcycle, Collins said.
The two vehicles collided, and the motorcycle operator was killed as a result. According to Collins, the victim was not wearing a helmet.
According to Florence County Coroner Keith von Lutcken, the victim was identified as Robert Anderson, 47, of Florence.
Collins added the driver of the Lexus was not injured.
The crash remains under investigation by the SCHP.
