ATLANTIC BEACH, SC (WMBF) – A New York man was arrested during Memorial Day weekend on a charge of distributing counterfeit merchandise.
Andrew Mackey, 53, was booked into the J. Reuben Long Detention Center on May 28, according to jail records. He was released on May 31 on a $7,932.50 bond and faced two other counts of failure to appear.
According to a Horry County Police Department incident report, a member of the South Carolina Attorney General's Office had located a vendor selling counterfeit items on 30th Avenue South off of U.S. 17.
Investigators reportedly identified a number of items as being counterfeit, such as 16 headbands with various brand names, 10 hats with the Louis Vuitton brand name, six pairs of baby shoes with different brand names and six pairs of wireless headphones with the name brand of "LG," according to the report.
