WEST COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - As he fights for his political life, Gov. Henry McMaster could be getting a big boost on Monday as the two-week sprint to South Carolina's primary runoff comes to an end. In the final full day of campaigning, President Donald Trump is making a trip to West Columbia to campaign for McMaster's bid for a first full term in office. The presidential visit comes just hours before voters decide if they want McMaster or businessman John Warren as their GOP nominee for governor.
JOHNSONVILLE, S.C. (AP) - One man has died and three people have been hurt in a stabbing in South Carolina. Florence County deputies say the attack happened around 6 p.m. Sunday in Johnsonville. Thirty-one-year-old Clinton Poston died at a hospital from his injuries. There was no word on the condition of the other three people. One person is in custody but the person's name and possible charges have not been released.
BEAUFORT, S.C. (AP) - A South Carolina man has been sentenced to life in the prison in the shooting death of a man and the kidnapping of the victim's friend. Tyrone Anthony Wallace Jr. of St. Helena Island was sentenced Friday in Beaufort. Wallace was convicted in the 2015 death of Vernon Steve. His burned remains were found on a road on St. Helena Island about three weeks after he was reported missing.
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Thunderstorms moving across South Carolina left about 7,000 customers without electric service. The biggest problems from Sunday's storms were in Pickens County. Duke Energy reported nearly 3,500 customers without service in Pickens County early Monday. The Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative also reported about 1,100 customers without service in Pickens County on Monday.
