NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. (AP) - A car crashed over an embankment in South Carolina, killing two people and injuring a third person. North Augusta police say the wreak happened shortly before 6 a.m. Wednesday. Two people were dead when officers arrive, the third person was taken to a hospital with serious injuries. The names of the victims have not been released.

ANDERSON, S.C. (AP) - A sheriff's deputy has been charged in a crash in South Carolina that killed a college student. Twenty-six-year-old Anderson County Sheriff's Deputy Timothy Ryan Chapman of Williamston is charged with reckless homicide. Twenty-two-year-old Joshua Martin died in the July 23 crash that occurred when Chapman was chasing another vehicle that was reported stolen.

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - South Carolina parishes that left The Episcopal Church want the nation's highest court to reverse a state court ruling. The conservative Diocese of South Carolina on Tuesday said it would petition the U.S. Supreme Court, in hopes of reversing a state Supreme Court ruling forcing the diocese to return properties worth millions of dollars to the national church.

WINNSBORO, S.C. (AP) - A South Carolina county has voted to sue one of the utilities that abandoned construction of two nuclear reactors, calling the move a breach of contract. Fairfield County Council voted Tuesday to sue SCANA Corp. over the cancellation of the reactors about 25 miles northwest of Columbia. The company would not talk about the pending litigation.
