RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - A rare vintage poster for a 1955 Elvis Presley show in North Carolina has sold at auction for more than double the expected price. The News & Observer of Raleigh reports the poster for a show on May 19, 1955, in Raleigh sold this month for $42,500. Giles Moon of Texas-based Heritage Auctions says he had expected the poster to sell for about $20,000.

DOVER, N.Y. (AP) - The ex-wife of a man police say killed three people and himself in three states after an incestuous marriage to his biological daughter says he had an explosive temper and a history of abusive behavior. Police say Steven Pladl killed his biological daughter, Katie, and her adoptive father in Connecticut, then fatally shot himself in New York state. Steven and Katie Pladl's 7-month-old son was found dead in North Carolina.

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) - State engineers aren't just considering cars and trucks as they draw plans to widen Interstate 26 in western North Carolina. They're also looking out for canoes and kayaks. The Asheville Citizen-Times reports the state Transportation Department is ensuring people can float in the French Broad River as engineers design a new bridge over the river.

MANTEO, N.C. (AP) - A North Carolina man remains behind bars, charged with murder in the death of a man killed by a heroin overdose. Dare County officials said Sunday that 32-year-old Tyrique Lazara Wise remains behind bars on a $550,000 bond.
