GEORGETOWN COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – Emergency responders said nothing was found during a two-hour search that began after reports came in of a possible swimmer in distress in the ocean off Litchfield By The Sea on Wednesday.

According to Midway Fire Chief Doug Eggiman, a call came in at 5:14 p.m., Wednesday after a couple of sightings of a possible swimmer in distress.

Eggiman said units from his department, the U.S. Coast Guard and the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office took part in the search, which yielded no results.

Based on that and the face there had been no reports of anyone missing, Eggiman said the decision was made to cancel the search and consider it a, "good-intent call."
