LAURINBURG, NC (WMBF) – A Laurinburg man was taken into custody on Wednesday and charged with forcible statutory rape of a child and 17 counts of indecent liberties with a minor child, according to the Scotland County Sheriff's Office.
Authorities have been looking for Desmond Earl Knight, 43, since June 3 for charges that stemmed from a report of sexual abuse that happened in August 2015 in Laurinburg, according to a Facebook post from Scotland County Sheriff's Office.
Additionally, outstanding misdemeanor warrants for failing to appear in court on traffic-related offenses from 2013 out of Hoke County Sheriff's Office were served upon Knight.
A second suspect, Dermia Chantel Braddy, 29, was wanted for felony accessory after the fact stemming from the charges against Knight, as well as one count of resisting, obstructing and delaying a law enforcement officer.
Knight and Braddy both turned themselves in to the SCSO on Wednesday, according to the Facebook post. They are scheduled for their first appearance on Thursday in Scotland County District Court.
