According to Thompson, the investigation started when deputies found Zonna Locklear beside the road on N.C. 410 north of Chadbourn on May 26. She claimed to have been kidnapped, Thompson previously said.

Locklear was located as deputies were heading to 107 N. Sterling St., in Proctorville at the request of the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office to make contact with the homeowner.

When law enforcement entered the home, they reportedly found the body of Gary Wayne Bisbee Jr., 23, of Lumberton.

The investigation continues and more arrests are expected, according to Thompson.
