Scotland County Sheriff’s Office searching for man wanted for sex crimes with a child

LAURINBURG, NC (WMBF) – Scotland County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help finding a fugitive, who has felony charges of 1st degree forcible rape of a child by an adult and seventeen counts of indecent liberties with a minor child.

Desmond Earl Knight, 43, of Laurinburg, NC charges stemmed from a report of sexual abuse from August of 2015 from incidents that occurred in Laurinburg, according to Scotland County Sheriff’s Office Facebook post.

Knight also has outstanding warrants from Hoke County in reference to failure to appear on charges involving traffic infractions, the post states.

He was last seen in the area of Hwy 211 in Raeford, NC of Hoke County near the Sandy Acres Mobile Home Park.

The post also states that Dermia Braddy, of Laurinburg, NC. Dermia Braddy has been assisting Desmond Knight, in providing food, shelter and concealment to Knight.

Knight may be seen in Dermia Braddy's company, in a 2002 silver in color Pontiac Grand Prix SE, with a NC license plate of DAN- 2901.

Knight has been on the run since 2013 from warrants out of Hoke County, and is considered armed and dangerous.

Scotland County Sheriff’s Office orders that if located, please do not approach or attempt to confront these subjects. Call 911 immediately, and report your observations.
