KINGSTREE, SC (WMBF) – On Friday a Sumter man was arrested and charged by the Williamsburg County Sheriff's Office with armed robbery.
Anthony James Burgess, 24, of 11 Burgess Court, Sumter, SC 29150 turned himself into the Williamsburg County Sheriff's Office at approximately 9:00 a.m., according to the WCSO press release.
Burgess was arrested in connection with the May 18 armed robbery and shooting incident that occurred at 86 Lincoln Drive, Kingstree, SC. According to investigators, Burgess along with Kendall Karon Rious is alleged to have robbed the male victim at gun point.
Burgess is currently in custody at the Williamsburg County Detention Center. He appeared before a Williamsburg Magistrate for an explanation of the charge against him, states the release. Burgess will remain in custody until bond is posted.
