MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – Gordo’s Tacos and Tequila is coming to downtown Myrtle Beach just in time for the summer season.

Just days ago, the final menu for the restaurant was perfected. Before their opening next week, WMBF News got a sneak preview of what’s in store for the new restaurant and found out it’s another part of a movement in Myrtle Beach.

“That’s one of our goals; we really, really want to revitalize downtown Myrtle Beach," said Becky Billingsley, public relations director for the Bondfire Restaurant Group. "You know, it takes a village, but we're doing our part.”

Gordo's Tacos and Tequila will offer 50 different kinds of tacos and tequilas and a craft margarita list, while also making sure it's an experience patrons can afford.

“With the price point this place has, I really think it's going to be a hangout for a lot of people, a lot of locals,” Billingsley said.

She pointed out on the menu that some tacos are starting at $3.

Gordo's, located at Withers Drive and Ninth Avenue North, is just across the street from The Chemist, and around the corner from ART Burger and Sushi. The Bondfire Restaurant Group owns all three eateries and hopes locals will take advantage of the proximity for some restaurant crawls.

“I mean, you can totally, easily walk between these three restaurants," Billingsley said. So we want to have a night where we have special cocktails and you walk to each place and try them.”

When diners walk in Gordo's, one of the first things they'll notice is the hand-painted artwork from the ceiling to the floor.

The restaurant will also feature a walk-up window for those who prefer a later start to the night and don't quite make it for dinner.

“It’s a walk-up window, so after we close in the evening, people will still be able to walk up and get tacos and walk away with them,” Billingsley said.

Gordo's staff is working to get those finishing touches done before next week's official opening.
