MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – A Bikefest event worker was reportedly shot at while controlling traffic at the barricades near 17th Avenue South and Yaupon Drive Saturday night.

The worker said he was working the barricades at about 11:50 p.m. when a silver, newer-model Chevrolet Impala approached the intersection, according to a Myrtle Beach Police report. The front passenger asked if they could drive through the intersection, and the worker said they could not. The vehicle then turned around.

The worker told police a man who was sitting on the door, hanging outside the vehicle, fired one or two shots from a handgun. The car then sped off south toward Kings Highway.

The suspect is described in the report as a black male with shoulder-length dreadlocks, wearing a black leather biker vest with a white t-shirt underneath and jeans.

A .45 caliber shell casing was found at the scene, the report states.
