FLORENCE COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – The West Florence Fire Department used the “jaws of life” to rescue a trapped person from a two-car collision Monday morning.

At about 6:57 a.m., one engine, one rescue truck and 10 firefighters responded to the collision at West Palmetto and Twin Church Road, according to a news release from Captain Anthony Fox. Firefighters were able to remove one trapped patient using the “jaws of life,” and that patient was transported to a nearby hospital.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol responded to investigate the cause of the collision, Capt. Fox said.
