FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) – A home in Florence was damaged by a kitchen fire that was extinguished by the West Florence Fire Department Sunday afternoon.

At about 1:02 p.m., 20 firefighters, two engines, one tanker truck, one rescue truck and one ladder truck responded to the two-story residence on Tennyson Drive in the Vintage Place subdivision, according to a news release from Captain Anthony Fox. Smoke was showing on their arrival, and firefighters found a fire in the kitchen. They ensured it was fully extinguished.

Damage was limited to the stove and cabinet area, with some smoke damage to the areas next to the kitchen, Capt. Fox said. The residence was cleared of smoke, and there were no reported injuries from this incident.

An active smoke alarm and fire alarm system were essential in the discovery of this fire and alerting the West Florence Fire Department, Capt. Fox said.
