Myrtle Beach city budget retreat starts today

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - City Council and senior staff are gathering at Santee Cooper's Wampee Conference Center in Pinopolis, SC, for the annual budget retreat.

The retreat begins Wednesday night at 6 p.m. and continues until Friday.  The officials are expected to expect important project ideas, some that have been in the works for a while, to see if they're fiscally possible for the budget year 2016-2017.  According to the official city of Myrtle Beach agenda released, the list of roundtable topics are the following:

  • Performing Arts Center/Amphitheatre
  • Annexation Policy
  • Bond Referendum for Capital Projects
  • Solid Waste Recycling
  • Encroachment
  • Storm Water Issues
  • Youth Engagement
  • Districts for Identification and Branding
  • South End Parking
  • Downtown MID

The ampitheatre has been in the works for about two years and land next to the indoor sports complex has already been bought for it.
