3 schools among those participating in African-American History program in Florence

FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) – Sneed Middle, Southside Middle, and Williams Middle schools will participate in celebrations for African-American History Month. Florence School District One will hold the three school-wide celebrations, on February 3 and 4.

The programs will feature Marquetta L. Goodwine, a published author, lecturer, and preservationist. Goodwine, also known as Queen Quet, is the founder of the Gullah/Geechie Sea Island Coalition and will demonstrate histo-musical presentations at the programs.

Each school will recognize the first place winner of its African-American History poetry contest for seventh grade students.  

On February 3, Williams Middle School will hold its program at 10:00 a.m. and at 2:00 p.m. at Southside Middle School. Sneed Middle School will hold its program on February 4, at 10:00 a.m.
