HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – Highway 544 eastbound was shut down at Kings Road due to a double wide mobile home fire that took place Thursday afternoon, fire officials confirmed.
One person was injured in a fire at a double-wide mobile home that was well-involved when units arrived on scene Thursday afternoon, according to Lt. Brian Van Aernem with HCFR.
Hwy. 544 was shut down due to a water supply line crossing, according to a tweet from Horry County Fire Rescue. Firefighters arrived on scene at 1:14 p.m.
Assistant Chief Gibbins said the house is heavily damaged and it's believed the fire started in the rear on the back porch. The main challenge was there was no fire hydrant on Kings Road and they had to close 544 because the nearest hydrant was on the opposite side of 544, according to Gibbins.
According to VanAernem, two adults and one child were displaced. One adult was transported to Conway ER for evaluation from smoke inhalation.
VanAernem said the fire appears to be electrical and to have started in an addition of the home.
Conway Fire and Myrtle Beach Fire provided mutual aid.
The Red Cross is assisting the family.
