Plans submitted for Paula Deen restaurant at Broadway at the Beach

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – Plans have been submitted for a Paula Deen restaurant at Broadway at the Beach, yall!

"Paula Deen's Family Kitchen" will go up where the recently closed Carlos N' Charlie's restaurant, which will be demolished to make way for the new building, according to the building permit application.

The two-story restaurant and retail space will be about 21,000 square feet in size, with a total valuation of $3.9 million, the permit states.

The menu of the other Paula Deen's Family Kitchen in Pigeon Forge is all southern cooking, as you probably guessed.

Broadway at the Beach has made huge changes this off-season, such as tearing down Planet Hollywood for an all-new Carolina Ale House, and moving Hard Rock Cafe from it's well-known pyramid to another spot. Magiquest also left Broadway this off season, along with Froggy Bottomz and Club Bocca.

Many people have said they look forward to some changes.

"Paula Deen's famous; she got good food, and you're in the south. It will draw in a lot of people," said Lauren Hovarth, who works at Broadway.

However, not everyone is a fan of Paula Deen, who was accused of racial discrimination and sexual harassment by an ex-employee of one of her restaurants. She also admitted in 2013 that she had used racial epithet.

The plans will be reviewed at the Community Appearance Board meeting on February 4.
