A fire in Longs forced a family from their home Saturday night. The Red Cross is assisting three adults and two children after a blaze ripped through their home on Harris Road in the Freemont Community.
Authorities with Horry County Fire Rescue say the fire was already 75% involved when they arrived on scene.
The cause of the fire is believed to be something cooking in the kitchen, according to HCFR Asst. Chief Justin Gibbons.
The home did reportedly have working smoke detectors.
