CCU student died of natural causes, coroner's office confirms

CONWAY, SC (WMBF) - The Horry County Coroner's office confirms that a student who was found dead at a residence hall of the Coastal Carolina University campus died of natural causes.

Brandon Devere Scott, a junior art studio major from North Charleston, was found dead Saturday, officials said. 

Deputy Coroner Tony Hendrick said Sunday that Scott had cardiac problems and died of natural causes. Hendrick said Saturday that he did not believe foul play was involved, and an autopsy was performed on Sunday.

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division investigated the incident.

It is with great sadness that we notify you of the death of Brandon Devere Scott, a junior art studio major from North Charleston, SC. Plans have not been announced for services at this time.  The University will update the community with appropriate information.
