A visit to Broadway at the Beach last weekend showed some positive changes well underway. Construction to revamp the entertainment complex is buzzing. A new restaurant, The American Tap House, is being built at a former club location and Hard Rock Café is moving to a new spot that was once a club as well.
Unfortunately with clubs and bars, crimes seem to follow, no matter where the location. We have seen that in several areas of the city and it is great to see that those issues are being addressed in downtown Myrtle Beach and now at this popular local and tourist attraction.
Consider This: Both Horry County and Myrtle Beach City leaders have taken an aggressive approach to targeting businesses that attract the wrong crowd. And while it can get uncomfortable and controversial, it is their duty to protect the community, its reputation and property values. They are definitely on the right track for 2016.
