Ice may lead to power outages in parts of the Pee Dee

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF)  Freezing rain accumulations may lead to some power outages primarily for areas along and west of Interstate 95.

Freezing rain will move into the Pee Dee during the early morning hours of Friday and continue into the early afternoon hours before changing to rain.  Areas across northern Scotland County, northwestern Marlboro County and western Darlington County may see the freezing rain linger a bit longer. In these areas, ice accumulations may reach to .25" or more.  At .25", tree limbs  begin to sag considerably. Some may break and lead to isolated power outages.  The most likely areas for outages appears to be Hartsville, Society Hill, Bennettsville, McColl and Laurinburg.

If more ice is able to accumulate, then more widespread power outages may be likely.  Areas from Charlotte to Raleigh are likely to see widespread power outages through the day on Friday.
