MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) As we watch a winter storm brush our area, not all of us will see winter precipitation. The Grand Strand and eventually the Pee Dee will be getting in on some very heavy rain Friday afternoon.
Upwards of an inch and a half to two inches of rain could fall by Saturday morning causing minor street flooding and rivers to rise once again. The river levels will stay constant but may rise slightly as we head into the beginning of next week.
Overall, the amount of rain we are expecting will be rather significant and with the ground already being saturated, this will cause further issues. Also, we are expecting winds to be very gusty as well. The combination of a soaked ground and windy conditions - the threat for a few trees to fall is greater. If you live along the Grand Strand and east of I-95, this is going to be your main concern as we continue into Friday night.
