American Red Cross desperately needs blood donations this winter

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – The American Red Cross is in need of all types of blood donors throughout the winter to maintain a sufficient blood supply for patients in need. 

Blood is needed for emergencies across the country on a daily basis. It is a need Heather Von Glahn knowns well. Glahn was inspired to make the commitment to give blood regularly after her 8 year-old daughter was diagnosed with leukemia. 

“I’ve seen blood save her life at least 10 times. When friends ask what they can do for my daughter, I tell them to donate blood. It matter’s so much,” said Glahn.

Below are several upcoming blood donation opportunities in the Grand Strand and Pee Dee areas from February 1 through 15. 
 
American Red Cross Florence Blood Donation Center, 1555-B West Palmetto St.
Tuesday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m; Wednesday, 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.; closed Sunday, Monday and Thursday.
 
American Red Cross Myrtle Beach Blood Donation Center, The Plaza at Carolina Forest, 3681 Renee Drive, Unit 4
Tuesday, 7 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.; Wednesday and Thursday, noon to 6:30 p.m.; Friday, 7 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.; closed Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
