Marion man arrested for alleged sexual assault of teen girl in Conway

CONWAY, SC (WMBF) – A 21-year-old Marion man turned himself in to Conway Police on Tuesday for alleged sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl in Conway on January 10, according to officials.

Semaj Jaquon Gagum was charged with criminal sexual conduct with a minor and kidnapping, and booked into J. Reuben Long Detention Center on Tuesday, according to the Conway Police Department.

On January 10, the victim said she was sexually assaulted on Leonard Avenue, the Conway Police report states. She was taken to a nearby hospital where a sexual assault kit was completed.

As of Wednesday afternoon, Gagum remained incarcerated at the detention center, according to jail records.

Officers were called to the area of Carver Street, Washington Street and King Street in the City of Myrtle Beach after 3:00 a.m. Friday, according to Sergeant Steven Clothier. Five or six shots fired is what was reported in the original call, Clothier said, several casings were on the ground near the Cover Apartments.
